On Friday, Nov. 11, the Longview Fire Department responded to three residential structure fires.  The fires were on Della Lane, East Melton, and Ealine Street.

East Melton

At about 9:30 a.m. the Longview Fire Department responded to 909 East Melton for a reported residential structure fire.  Upon arrival of fire department crews, they found light smoke to be coming from the gable of the roof.  Crews were able to access the attic and extinguish the fire, keeping the damage to approximately $6,000. The fire was determined to be accidental and it is believed to have started around the electrical box supporting a ceiling fan.  There were no reported injuries.

The Longview Fire Department responded with 3 fire engines, 2 ladder trucks, 1 ambulance and 4 support vehicles for a total of 21 personnel. 

Ealine Street

At about 8:30 p.m. the Longview Fire Department responded to 200 Ealine Street for a reported residential structure fire.  Upon arrival of fire department crews, they found fire in the void space behind a chimney.  The residents had not opened the flue prior to starting a fire in the fireplace and the fire spread through cracks inside the fireplace into the wall cavity.  The fire did approximately $10,000 in damage and was contained to the chimney.  There were no reported injuries.

Della Lane

At about 10:15 p.m. the Longview Fire Department responded to 1512 Della Lane for a reported residential structure fire.  Upon arrival of fire department crews, they found a couch smoldering in the living room.  The resident had extinguished the fire with a garden hose.  The fire did approximately $4,000 in damage and was contained to the couch with smoke and heat damage to the living room.  There were no reported injuries.
