Dancing Through the Decades at Dexter’s Inn

Arts and Entertainment

May 15, 2024

Sunapee, NH, June 13: Rock and Roll is back.  Dust off your saddle shoes, primp your poodle skirt, roll up your T-shirt sleeves slip into your jeans and join us for a sock hop under the tent at Dexter’s Inn in Sunapee.

Turn an ordinary night into a memorable one with John Jacob, a well-known DJ from Burlington, VT who will entertain us with a versatile repertoire spanning the ‘50s, ‘60s, and 70’s.  Dance till your heart’s content to some of the greatest dancing and listening to music of our time.   With a music collection that spans over a century, John has us covered.  Elvis, The Big Bopper, Sherels, Jerry Lee Lewis, and much more to remind us of the “good old days” and share those memories with younger folk who also “just love to dance.”

John's passion for music literally began before he was born -- in his mother's womb!  His mother worked at Columbia records where her job was to listen to master tapes before they went to production. So, music has been a part of his life since conception!  John first DJ gig was in 1974, so he is celebrating 50 years of sharing his passion for music with others.  He started a radio station in high school where he DJ'd two shows a day for two years and also hosted a college radio show for two years where he also announced Sacred Heart University basketball games. While the majority of his last 50 years has been a corporate career with GE/IBM, he has always kept a pulse on music and in his retirement has DJ'd about 30 events a year for 7 years, including donating time to charitable causes.  He enjoys a wide range of music from the swing era to modern pop and soul.

Sponsored by the Center for the Arts, join us on Thursday, June 13 from 6 – 9pm at Dexter’s Inn, 258 Stagecoach Road, Sunapee, NH.  Invite friends and set up a table for your BYOB-Food picnic.  Cost for members $30 and non-members $35.  Don't miss out on this great opportunity to relive your past or make new memories.
