Park Updates:

Stephen Harris Park CIP Update:

Stephen Harris Park became a Capital Improvement Project due to a need for renovation beyond deferred and routine maintenance. This was approved by the EDHCSD Board of Directors on June 9th, 2022.

Park improvements include:

- The removal and reconstruction of 4 tennis courts with a post-tension foundation for longer life expectancy, less maintenance, and to address our soil conditions.
- Addition of 4 pickleball courts
- Drought tolerant landscaping that uses 2 water savings grants awarded to the District from El Dorado Water Agency (EDWA) and the Bureau of Reclamation.

Next Steps:

- Survey, Geotech and construction design work is currently taking place which will be followed by a Construction Request for Proposals in 2023 and construction in the summer and fall of 2023.

Winter Tips From CSD’s Maintenance Staff:

During the winter, your irrigation needs less water. It can be a good time to turn off your irrigation system and allow rain to water your plants for free.

Winterize your Irrigation Pipes:

- Insulate irrigation valves.
- Shut off watering cycles, and water via manual mode on timer.
- Drain irrigation system, if able.

Pre-emptive Stormproofing:

- Identify areas prone to washing out in a flood.
- Utilize sandbags and/or straw wattles to create channels to help guide flood water.
- Clear drains, gutter, and landscape of leaves to prevent them from becoming overwhelmed during storms.
- Removed dead/dying/or suspect trees/tree limbs that may pose a threat to you, or your property if they fall. Now is a GREAT time, as most trees are currently already dormant.
- Stop fertilizing dormant trees and shrubs.

Pest treatment:

If you have a pest problem, it's best to take care of it now! During the winter, pest problems can get worse as most insects and rodents will try to move into the home to find warmth.
