From: Kentler International Drawing Space

Kentler International Drawing Space is pleased to present Wolf Tales, a solo drawing exhibition by Beacon, NY artist Sascha Mallon.

Wolf Tales is a large-scale drawing installation with ceramic and woven elements. Mallon draws onto porcelain objects with underglaze pencils, adorns them with yarn, then stations them into vignettes connected by lace-like wall drawings. Intricate lines flow around the gallery, guiding viewers through a dreamy landscape. Some figures seem to float away while others nestle into tightly knotted spaces. The subtle narrative centers on a girl and her wolf companion, and themes of connection and transformation move through the work.

Mallon, a hospital artist and practicing Buddhist, approaches her materials and subject matter with extreme sensitivity. The Austrian-born artist takes inspiration from her own life as well as a deep concern for the human condition. Mallon’s integrated, multimedia technique challenges the notion of drawing as a static art form and sets her enchanting stories in motion. Wolf Tales invites the viewer to wonder, engage, question, and ultimately find peace through compassion.
