6PM: Women in the Arts Dinner with Jennifer Grim

Join renowned flutist Jennifer Grim in conversation as she shares her inspiring life story following a four-course gourmet dinner paired with a specially curated selection of wines. Vintners Robin and Andréa McBride of the McBride Sisters Wine Company will also speak about their work and the creation of the McBride Sisters SHE CAN Fund.
 
Celebrating the accomplishments of nationally recognized female artists and women leaders in the wine business, Women in the Arts at The Meritage is a special event speaker series which takes place in an exclusive and intimate setting at The Meritage Resort and Spa.
 
Grim has gained broad international acclaim through performances with such renowned ensembles as the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, Zéphyros Winds, and the New York Chamber Soloists. She also serves as principal flute of the Mostly Mozart Orchestra of New York and the Santo Domingo Festival Orchestra, and has performed throughout the United States as well as in China, Colombia, Panama, Dominican Republic, Ukraine, the Netherlands, and Spain. She is currently associate professor at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, President of the board of Chamber Music America, and holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Yale University.
 
Proceeds from the evening benefit the McBride Sisters SHE CAN Fund in support of professional women working in the wine business.

7:00PM: Gordon Getty's Goodbye, Mr. Chips

Gordon Getty's celebrated opera reimagined for film, Goodbye, Mr. Chips, receives a special screening at the historic Cameo Cinema in St. Helena. Getty’s fourth opera is based on the popular 1934 book Goodbye, Mr. Chips and other stories by James Hilton. Directed by Brian Staufenbiel, the film features tenor Nathan Granner, soprano Marnie Breckenridge, baritone Lester Lynch, and bass-baritone Kevin Short. The orchestra of stellar Bay Area players is conducted by Nicole Paiement. Members of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, conducted by Francisco J. Núñez, also perform.

6:30PM: Opening Night with Festival Orchestra Napa

Festival Napa Valley kicks off its 17th season with a celebratory evening featuring two beloved masterpieces and one world premiere. The concert opens with a new work by rising young composer Yang Bao. Spanish guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas takes center stage for Joaquín Rodrigo's iconic Concierto de Aranjuez. The evening culminates with pianist Alexander Malofeev performing Sergei Rachmaninoff's lush Piano Concerto No. 2 – a fitting tribute to one of the world's greatest composers on his 150th Anniversary. Kyle Dickson, 2023 recipient of the Joel Revzen Conducting Fellowship, leads Festival Orchestra Napa.

A selection of artwork created by participants in the Festival's How I See Music workshops will be projected during the performance.

6:30PM: Matteo Bocelli in Concert
Joined by Violinist Francisco Fullana

Rising international star Matteo Bocelli takes audiences on a journey through some of the most beloved songs of all time—Italian classics such as "Quando Quando Quando," ballads like "Can't Help Falling In Love" and "Caruso," favorite opera arias, and pop hits "Fall on Me" and "Perfect Symphony." Bocelli will perform some of his original compositions as well, including selections from his upcoming debut album and previously released singles "Solo," "Tempo," and "Dimmi."
 
Joining Bocelli is award-winning Spanish violinist Francisco Fullana, winner of the Festival's 2023 Khaledi Prize for Excellence and Innovation in Classical Music. Maestro Eugene Kohn conducts.

Kathryn and Craig Hall are known for their commitment to sustainable winemaking practices, and their passion for hospitality and art is reflected in every aspect of their spectacular winery, HALL St. Helena. In 2003 they purchased the circa 1885 Bergfeld Winery with the intention of creating a place of stunning beauty that would match the exquisite wines they produce. They installed dozens of original artworks, restored and modernized the nineteenth-century architecture, and revitalized the vineyards. 11:00AM: Alexander Malofeev in Recital at Bouchaine Vineyards

Described as “the latest phenomenon of the Russian piano school” (Corriere della Sera), Malofeev came to international prominence when he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in 2014 at age 13. Since then, he has appeared with some of the world’s top orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. The piano virtuoso celebrates Rachmaninoff’s 150th Anniversary with a program featuring the composer’s most beloved works in the idyllic setting of Bouchaine Vineyards — the oldest continuously-operating winery in the region.

To connoisseurs of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, few names have more cachet than ADAMVS. Expressive and elegant, ADAMVS wines are produced from grapes grown on a 28-acre mosaic of small vineyard blocks on Howell Mountain, nearly 2,000 feet above the valley fog and surrounded by fir and oak forests. The grapes, influenced by the iron-rich soil and sunny climate, develop a lush ripeness that gives each ADAMVS vintage its character and complexity. Ensuring access to the arts is core to Festival Napa Valley’s mission — and the inspiration of the Arts for All Gala. To date, the Gala has raised over $20 million, making it one of the most impactful nights of the Festival and among the nation’s biggest fundraisers for the arts.
 
This year’s Gala is headlined by superstar singer Carrie Underwood, a multi-platinum-selling artist with 8 GRAMMY® Awards, 16 Academy of Country Music Awards, and countless other accolades. She brings her powerhouse vocals to Nickel & Nickel to perform a selection of her chart-topping hits.

Sisters Fiona and Hina Khuong-Huu are a dazzling duo who, at just 16 and 18 years old, have performed around the world and brought home countless prestigious awards, from Hina's 2023 Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition win to Fiona's first prize at the 2017 Grumiaux Competition. While the New York City natives continue their studies at Juilliard (and Hina pursues a double degree at Columbia University), they perform together and as sought-after soloists, including at this year's Bouchaine Young Artist concert.

Maestro Constantine Orbelian leads Festival Orchestra Napa and a stellar lineup of soloists in Seasons of Hope, an evening of works featuring stories of courage, sacrifice, and hope. Cellist Kristina Reiko Cooper and vocal ensemble Volti perform Lera Auerbach's Symphony No. 6, Vessels of Light, a piece dedicated to the extraordinary heroism of Chiune Sugihara, the Japanese diplomat who saved thousands of Jewish refugees during World War II.

The program also features three spellbinding choral works by esteemed composer Gordon Getty: Shenandoah with soprano Lisa Delan, the world premiere of Annie Laurie, and the monumental Joan and the Bells, a work honoring the life and martyrdom of Joan of Arc with baritone Lester Lynch and soprano Melody Moore.

In literature, lore, and winemaking, Odette is a legend — a princess, a ruler, a preeminent figure in history. She is also the namesake of the Odette Estate Winery, where some of Napa Valley's finest wines are produced, and the picturesque setting for tonight's Patron Dinner.

Twins often have uncanny similarities — Harper and Cole Randolph, for example, share exceptional musical talent. They picked up instruments during kindergarten, and their paths diverged only slightly: cellist Cole studied math, music performance, and economics at the University of Wisconsin before joining the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, while violist Harper earned her music degree from the University of Michigan and was awarded third place at the 25th Annual Sphinx Competition, Senior Division. The Randolph twins will share something else at Festival Napa Valley — the performance stage for this Bouchaine Young Artist concert.

For more than half a century, St. Helena’s Duckhorn Vineyards has produced some of Napa Valley’s most prized wines – including America’s first and foremost Merlot. The prodigious siblings of the Breshears String Quartet have played music together since they were toddlers. Now, ranging from age 10 to 16, Dustin (violin), Starla (cello), Valery (violin), and Colin (viola) have performed as soloists and in ensembles from Argentina to Mexico to the UK (as well as on NBC’s Little Big Shots) and garnered gold medals at chamber music and solo competitions. Born and raised in the Bay Area, they attend both the San Domenico Virtuoso Program and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
