Chesley Flashback

In honor of our upcoming 32nd Annual Gene A. Chelsey Awards we thought it might be fun to share another flashback from previous years as we did in the last edition of the newsletter. Pictured are examples of two of the themed Chesley Award ceremonies held in the past.

In 2015 the evening’s theme was Hawaiian and our students did a fabulous job in their performance on stage. The following year, in 2016, the theme was Country and education program staff members performed a fun number. Pictured left to right are Joshua Wheeler, Emily Jo Shepherd, Crissy Cairns, Angela Baltezore, and James Glica-Hernandez. Photo credit: Karen Alexander Photography.

This year we ask that attendees come dressed for an evening of celebration. Semi-formal attire is requested, and we hope you enjoy stepping out in style to the theatre! The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. and we have lots of great entertainment in store to go along with the award presentations. Following the program, we’ll gather in Heritage Plaza for a dessert reception. Please join us!

Dear Edwina

Coming September 9-18
Our first Theatre For Families production of the 2022-23 season will open in just one month! A fun show that will appeal to all ages, Dear Edwina is a heartwarming musical about the joys of growing up.

From the creators of Junie B. Jones the Musical, thirteen-year-old Edwina would do anything to be a part of the Kalamazoo Advice-a-Palooza Festival. While her siblings both have proof of their accomplishments, poor Edwina has nothing. When a talent scout visits her hometown, she trots out her musical advice, giving shows live from the family garage in hopes of finding her place in the spotlight. Tickets are on sale now at the box office (340 Second Street/(530) 666-9617) or online here.
