CULTURAL CONTRIBUTOR OF THE YEAR
by the Basin Wide Foundation

The Basin Wide Foundation selected the Yucca Valley Film Festival “Cultural Contributor of the Year” in the Hi-Desert, on Thursday August 24th, during their annual dinner in Joshua Tree, at the Helen Gray Education Center.

The trophy was presented by 29 Palms Mayor McArthur Wright to festival director Matt Beurois and Yucca Valley Community Services Manager Susan Earnest.

The award came with official recognition from the United States Congress by Congressman Jay Obernolte, from the California State Senate by Senator Shannon Grove, and from the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors by Chair Dawn Rowe.

“We are happy, proud and humbled that the Yucca Valley Film Festival was chosen as the Cultural Contributor of the year. It is our goal to serve the community, and that token of appreciation really means a lot to us”

 - Auregan & Matt Beurois, festival creators.

Every year, the Foundation awards businesses, organizations, and individuals who have shown dedication to providing service to the hi-desert community.

The Yucca Valley Film Festival will celebrate 5 years this November, with screenings and events on the 10, 11 & 12.

"In previous years, we worked with the Lady Trojans, Miss Yucca Valley Court & Scholarship, the YVHS Cheerleaders. This year again, we are inviting local organizations to participate in the film festival and use the event as a platform to showcase their missions and promote local talents."

 - Matt Beurois, festival programmer

Both Matt Beurois and Sue Earnest sincerely thanked the Town Council of Yucca Valley for their support, and renewed their gratitude to the Town manager, staff, and volunteers who all make the festival possible.

Matt Beurois also highlighted how much this event is personal to Auregan and himself. He also explained the impact our community Film Festival can have on out of town, out of state and international filmmakers coming to Yucca Valley for a day, a week-end of a week.

The Basin Wide Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports many other non-profits in the Morongo Basin, including: Miracle League of the Desert, Waste Not Morongo Basin, Youth Sports Coalition, Dreams for Kids, and The Bob Dunn Memorial Scholarship Fund.
