Woodland Opera House Theatre - Emergency Audition Notice

Arts and Entertainment

July 1, 2022

From: Woodland Opera House Theatre

Unfortunately, we have lost our Kevin Rosario actor for this amazing show

Kevin Rosario: (Baritenor, Latino, Reads 40s-50s) In his forties and owner of Rosario Car and Limousine, Kevin is a husband to Camila and father to Nina. While Kevin was born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, he immigrated to New York City with Camila. Kevin immediately started working to provide a better life for his newly arrived family. He is stubborn, hot tempered at times, and can be quick to act without thoughts of repercussions. Singing actor who moves well.

We are seeking to cast this role in a culturally appropriate way.

In The Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. In The Heights is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestrations.

This show is directed and choreographed by Jacob Gutièrrez-Montoya. Rehear- sals are underway, so we would like to fill this role ASAP. Rehearsals are in Woodland on Sundays - Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The actor playing this role would not be called for every rehearsal, until we get to July 18 when we start run-throughs. Tech week is July 31-August 4. Tech Sunday is all day, and the rest of the week is 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

If you are interested in playing Kevin, please call Jacob at (916) 759-2951 or call Stage Manager, Casey Camacho at (530) 867-0625.

If you have a bio and headshot please email those to [email protected] and [email protected]. Also please let us know of any conflicts. We are hoping not to have any conflicts after July 18, and no conflicts at all during tech week.

Kevin's big song in the show is “Inutil”, about his feelings of frustration that he can't provide everything for his daughter. Check it out below.
