WOH In The News

Congressman Mike Thompson, who represents California’s 4th District, visited the Woodland Opera House recently. He met with WOH staff and Board of Trustees President, Lou Anderson, while touring the building and discussing the importance of preserving the history of the Opera House. He also presented a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for the Opera House’s outstanding service to the community!

The group photo shows in front (L-R) Executive Director Angela Baltezore, Lou Anderson, and in back (L-R) Operations Manager Cathy Oliver, Incoming Executive Director Tom Burmester, and Congressman Mike Thompson.

We are honored to receive this recognition!

Thursday, May 4th – Big Day of Giving!

In May, the WOH will once again participate in the regional fundraiser called Big Day of Giving. Over 700 nonprofits in the greater Sacramento area will band together to raise awareness about all the great things we do for our communities, and to raise funds.

On Big Day of Giving (or any time after April 20th when early giving begins) you can "Spring into Action" and show your love of our theatre and our theatre education program by donating. The Opera House continues to live up to its reputation as a true California historical treasure, and provider of much needed theatre arts education, because people like you have graciously given your financial support.

Please help us to keep making a difference in Yolo County and throughout the region. Stay tuned for more information on this very important fundraiser.

Thank you!

Corduroy School Outreach

This past Thursday our School Outreach Program was thrilled to host a large number of local students for performances of Corduroy. Pictured is the morning session.

The show’s director, Ania Mieszkowska kicked off the performance with a quick introduction. A total of 380 students, teachers, and parents attended, with hundreds more at the afternoon show.

This form of School Outreach is an important component of what we do to share the joy of theatre with local children. Many of these kids would not otherwise have exposure to the theatre arts!
