A Christmas Story is the hilarious play based on humorist, Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s, and the 1983 movie. Young Ralphie Parker wants only one thing for Christmas: a Red Ryder BB gun. He tries repeatedly, and through various means, to convince his parents that he should have one, but they don't appear to budge. He even pleads his case to Miss Shields, his teacher, who utters the same words he keeps hearing from mom and dad... "you'll shoot your eye out!" Nonetheless, Ralphie persists.

The show will run November 18 - December 11th, and it includes all of the laugh out loud elements that you love from the movie. Tickets are on sale now at the button below for performances on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Reserved seats are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors 62+, and $15 for children 17 and under. Yolo County Philanthropy Day

Honors One of Our Own!

Congratulations to Melissa Loscutoff, Woodland Opera House Social Media Team Member! The Opera House is excited to announce that Melissa is our 2022 Yolo County Philanthropy Day Honoree. As our Executive Director, Angela Baltezore states, “Melissa is instrumental in keeping our patrons well informed concerning the busy schedule of events at the theatre and in our education program.” She volunteers many hours per month toward our social media communications effort, and we are grateful!

Yolo County Philanthropy Day is hosted by Yolo Community Foundation and will be celebrated on November 15th with a reception sponsored by Nugget Markets. Our honoree will be recognized alongside 26 others who have made a significant impact in our community this year. The Woodland Opera House believes that Yolo County is stronger thanks to the many nonprofits, volunteers, and donors who all contribute to a strong philanthropic community.

School Outreach Program Update:

Students in Esparto Flying High with Fun!

Our School Outreach Program in Esparto had their first performance of the year this past week. Jeff Teague, our instructor onsite, was overjoyed at how successful the performance was.

See those kites? Each student made their own as part of a project led by Mr. Jeff. These kids are so lucky to have him as a teacher!

We are very fortunate to have our School Outreach Program. Serving children and families in the greater Woodland and Esparto areas of Yolo County continues to be so rewarding!
