Our Theatre for Families series kicks off with Dear Edwina THIS FRIDAY

Tickets On Sale HERE

Opening on our historic stage this Friday night is Dear Edwina. From the creators of the popular Junie B. Jones the Musical (a TFF classic from a few years back), Dear Edwina really has something for everyone. Says the show director, Deborah Douglas “While Dear Edwina is a story voiced by young adults, its true message is both for the young and the young-at-heart. For everyone who has ever struggled with finding their own personal “gift” to this world. This simple yet enchanting production shines like a beacon of empowerment and acceptance. It encourages us to embrace the unique individuals we are and could not be more appropriate for the times in which we live. It serves as a reminder to check in with ourselves every now and again and ask, am I truly singing my own song?”

Bring a friend or bring the whole family. Whatever you do, be sure to get tickets to this heartwarming production with a unique cast made up of both youth & adult actors. See the short and video with a behind-the-scenes glimpse at rehearsals. This cast is so excited to present this fun show to you!

Coming Up in October

The Ghost of Woodland Opera House
October 7 - 30

The new comedy by Matthew Abergel and Bob Cooner tells the story of a troupe of traveling actors in 1909 who arrive at the Woodland Opera House theatre to perform their latest melodrama. But mysterious accidents make a mess of their dress rehearsal. Could it be the malevolent meddling of the ghost that reportedly haunts the Opera House? Be sure to come see for yourself!

Inspired by the real-life heroism of Woodland firefighter William Porter, who parished in the great fire of 1892 that destroyed much of downtown Woodland. This show is perfect for the Fall/ Halloween season, and it will not disappoint! Perfect for a fun group outing.

Purchase tickets at the button below or at the Box Office at (530) 666-9617.

News from the Woodland Opera House Guild

As we mentioned in the last newsletter, the Board of the Woodland Opera House Guild is reinvigorated & reenergized!

We are committed to representing and supporting the Opera House in the best ways we possibly can. And in doing so, we know that we need to acknowledge the hard work of our fabulous volunteers.

Recently, at the Chesley Awards, President, Pat Aukes, (pictured back) presented the Annual Guild Award to Brady Thomas (pictured forefront). Brady has become a fixture as an usher at the WOH during this past year. As Pat mentioned, "If you were a part of the audience for any show this past year, it is highly likely you were ushered to your seat by this year's Guild Award recipient. He worked a total of 40 ushering shifts over the last season...He always shows up dressed in a suite & tie, with a smile on his face, and ready to do whatever is asked of him by the House Managers." Many congratulations to Brady on this momentous award!

Please remember that Guild members are one of the primary contacts with Opera House patrons and enhance their experience by ushering performances & concerts, selling concessions & merchandise, giving tours, acting as docents for special events, and assisting at fundraising events. The Guild plays such a critical role in supporting the performances at Woodland Opera House, will you join us and play your part?

Please secure/renew your Guild Membership for 2022-2023! The annual membership year matches the WOH Season, which began July 1, 2022. The link here will take you to an online marketplace where you can register as a member, pay your dues, and request a nametag all in one place.

Alternatively, you can download our brochure here (or pick one up in the Box Office) and send in a check to register. We look forward to welcoming you as a member of the Guild and thank you for supporting the Woodland Opera House.

We hope you enjoy this slideshow that highlights the recent 32nd Annual Chesley Awards. It was such a wonderful evening, and we couldn't be more grateful to Kelly Lynn Jordan Photography for helping us to remember through these wonderful photos!
