AIDS Assistance Program

1276 N. Palm Canyon
760-325-8481

The AIDS Assistance Program was founded in Palm Springs, California in the Spring of 1991. At that time a small group of concerned citizens, led by the late Gloria Greene and Jeannette Rockefeller, provided meals to members of the community with low incomes and suffering with HIV/AIDS. Since that time, the AIDS Assistance Program's client rosters have grown from approximately 20 to well over 470 persons and their dependents. The AIDS Assistance Program is managed by a fourteen member volunteer Board of Directors whose primary purpose is to raise the funds the organization and its food voucher program require. This year's budgeted food voucher expense is expected to exceed $500,000. Approximately 80% of the organization's operational expenses are generated through a growing private donor base, local business support and grant funding. A small percentage of its capital comes to us by way of Federal Ryan White, Title 1 legislation.
