About us

The entire Alamitos staff is dedicated to the success of our students. We work hard to prepare our students for the challenges of high school and beyond. At Alamitos, we believe that a parents’ direct involvement in their child’s education greatly contributes to their child’s academic success. Therefore, open communication between the school and home is an integral part of providing your child with the best learning environment and experience. Our website is one way to do this. In addition, we also send flyers home with our students announcing upcoming events. Our marquee in the front of the school also has important dates and information that you will find useful. However, I invite all parents to contact us directly if you have any questions regarding your child or school events.

Furthermore, all Alamitos teachers maintain high academic classroom expectations. Their planning and preparation for this school year is focused on implementing a challenging, positive, standards based, academic program which will prepare your child for a successful school year and a successful future.

HIGH EXPECTATIONS

All Alamitos students...

- are required to learn.

- are required to complete their daily assignments and homework

- understand that education is the key to future success.

- are expected to earn a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).

- are required to achieve Basic or above on all District Benchmark Exams.

- are expected to treat each other with respect and dignity.

- are committed to do their academic best everyday

Parents, I encourage you to review these expectations and use them to set goals and establish guidelines with your child for homework completion, study time, and grades. We will be happy to assist you in creating these guidelines with you and your child.

Students, the Alamitos staff and your parents expect and require you to actively participate in your education by learning the California Content Standards in the areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and history. Using a variety of instructional strategies and techniques, your teachers will provide you with access to the 7th and 8th grade content standards by creating and implementing standards based lessons. If you are having difficulty meeting these academic standards, there will be plenty of opportunities to get extra help. Make sure that you take advantage of them.

"Unlock Your Future, Education is the Key" is our school motto this year. Together and with hard work, we can turn this motto into a reality for all of Alamitos’ students.
