The American Red Cross, Kern Chapter was chartered in 1917 and has responded to Kern County local disasters as well as supporting National disasters ever since. Our mission includes preparedness for, prevention of and response to emergencies. Toward that end, we train individuals in First Aid, CPR/AED, and Blood Bourne Pathogens, Babysitting, Water Safety and a large array of disaster related trainings. Annually we train over 10,000 Individuals.

The Chapter connects families with their armed forces relative in times of emergency, births and related events and has connected over 350 families annually.

Additionally, the Kern Chapter responds to local home and other resident fires which affect over 150 households annually, providing emergency short term shelter, clothing, food, counseling and case management for the affected families. In the event of a National disaster, the Kern Chapter deploys volunteers all over the country.
