Arts of Bear Valley is an association devoted to developing and promoting the visual arts with exhibitions and shows, classes and seminars, children's programs and events designed to enhance and foster the appreciation of art.

Arts of Bear Valley was formed 14 years ago with just three initial members and has since expanded to approximately 40 members as well as encompassing other communities along the Highway 4 corridor, including Arnold and Murphys. Arts of Bear Valley also works closely with Alpine County in the promotion of art in both Alpine and Calaveras Counties.

There are two classifications of membership, active "artists" and "friends" of Arts of Bear Valley. An "artist" member is eligible to join after attending a general meeting and applying for membership. A "friend" member is open to anyone who supports Arts of Bear Valley.

Arts of Bear Valley participates in and promotes art for children through the schools and summer programs. Artists are also involved in seasonal "plein aire" paint-outs as well as their annual Arts of Bear Valley exhibit held during the two weeks of the Bear Valley Music Festival in July and August. Other art shows and exhibits are held both locally and in Alpine County.
