Carpe Diem-Aiken

5641 Belmont Avenue
513-363-6600

Carpe Diem Learning Systems opened its first Ohio school in August of 2013, in the Cincinnati neighborhood of College Hill. Carpe Diem-Aiken, housed in a new LEED registered state-of-the-art building at the original Aiken High School location, is the first public charter school sponsored by Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS).

Carpe Diem-Aiken is a tuition-free public charter school using a proprietary blended learning model of digital curriculum combined with high quality, personalized learning experiences and high expectations.  Carpe Diem-Aiken students will range in age from 12-16 years old and working at 7th through 10th grade levels.  The curriculum is tailored to a complete spectrum of students, including:

·         Students lost in a large school or traditional classroom

·         Students who will thrive on relationally-driven, ability-based learning

·         Gifted students looking to work at an accelerated pace that will keep them challenged

·         Students who want to take college courses and gain credit while still in high school

·         Students who have been home-schooled

·         Elementary charter school students who wish to continue their charter school education at a secondary level.

Carpe Diem Learning Schools are NCA accredited and include Edgenuity's (formerly Education2020) comprehensive instructional content; uBoost's online recognition and reward system; and a secure online portal to provide parents with real-time student data, including attendance, grades, and academic progress. Students learn at their own pace, mastering material prior to moving on to the next level.

Carpe Diem-Aiken also offers opportunities for career concentrations in Information Technology, Science and Engineering, Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Digital Arts and Entertainment, and Health Sciences allowing students to explore career pathways and take college preparatory courses.

Carpe Diem-Aiken is based on the proven educational model of CDLS's first school, Carpe Diem Collegiate High School in Yuma, Arizona.  In addition to the Cincinnati school, Carpe Diem Meridian opened in Indianapolis in August 2012, and Carpe Diem Summit is schedule to open in Ft. Wayne in August 2013.  The Carpe Diem blended learning model has an eight year record of academic achievement, student success, cost effectiveness, and productive work environment for teachers and students.

Achievement scores should be available in late Spring 2014.
