History:
Gerald Ford Elementary School is a K-5 school located in Indian Wells in the heart of the Coachella Valley. The school is unique in that it comprises a very different population. The school attendance area covers homes and apartments from the low income level to those in the expensive country club areas. This includes the cities of Palm Desert, Indian Wells and La Quinta. The Gerald Ford Elementary School staff consists of 31 teachers, a resource specialist, a counselor and several shared or part time staff including paraprofessionals, a physical education teacher/computer technician, a speech therapist, a psychologist, and a nurse.

The projected enrollment for the 2007 - 2008 school year is 750. The parents of Gerald Ford Elementary School are very supportive. The Parent Club runs programs and activities throughout the year. They also publish a newsletter informing parents about their planned activities to help the students, encouraging participation and school spirit. Gerald Ford School T-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, and monogrammed items are available for purchase from the Parent Club.

The Gerald R. Ford Elementary School Staff believes that parents are teachers, too. We rely heavily on parent involvement and encourage every parent to be as involved as possible with their child's education. We wouldn't be the number one school in the valley without an outstanding staff, supportive parents, and, of course, wonderful children!
