Our Mission
The mission of the Oak Park Unified School District is to provide students with a strong foundation for learning which meets the challenge of the present and of the future through a balanced education which includes academic achievement, personal growth, and social responsibility.

Goals
Authentic learning will become the norm in Oak Park Unified School District classrooms. Students will meet and exceed standards through learning processes that emphasize thinking, reasoning, and creativity.

-Our special education programs will be of the highest possible quality in terms of meeting the specific needs of each child that promotes inclusion in general education classes to the maximum extent appropriate.
Intervention programs will be available to students in reading and mathematics at all levels to ensure that all students are meeting standards in literacy and numeracy.

-Our emphasis on differentiated instruction shall continue so that all of our students experience a challenging learning environment through depth, complexity, and novelty. Gifted learners will be served through a program of differentiated instruction, grouped with intellectual peers, and experience enrichment opportunities.

-Our arts programs will emphasize creativity, skill development, and universal participation. These programs will include the multiple aspects of the visual and performing arts.

-Practical arts programs, including technology, journalism, theatrical production, culinary arts, and other life skills, will be developed and expanded at all levels.

-Physical education programs should emphasize fitness, wellness, nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle. Our athletic programs will develop leadership, teamwork, and individual athletic potential.

-Programs will be expanded for career and technical education at the secondary level.

-Counseling programs at all levels will be supported in order to meet the social and emotional needs, academic and career counseling of our students, as well as parent education.

-Provide an environment that values diversity as a strength including opportunities to experience diversity.

-Develop more opportunities for our students to attain proficiency in other languages. Evaluate the structure of our foreign language programs
