Tununak is located in southwest Alaska on the coast of the Bering Sea in the Lower Kuskokwim River Delta. It lies near a small bay off the coast of Nelson Island. The population of Tununak is about 340 people.

Most of the people in Tununak get their subsistance food out in the ocean or from going out hunting.In Tununak, the jobs people have are with the school district, village corporation, stores, commercial fishing, trapping and native crafts. The transportation that is used in Tununak is mostly four wheelers in the summer, snowmachines in the winter, and planes throughout the year.
