St. MatthewsBy-The-Sea is named for this faithful disciple whose life was changed after he encountered Jesus Christ.  Located one block from the ocean and in the middle of the resort community of Fenwick Island, DE, SMBTS continues to assist all people in finding new life in Christ.

Our friendly and caring congregation is composed of people of varying religious backgrounds who have come from various locales in the Mid-Atlantic region to make their homes at the beach.  Our worship services blend the traditional with the contemporary in such a way that Jesus is lifted up and spirits are uplifted. But at St. Matthews By-The-Sea, worship provides a springboard for service. Our forty-six ministries, programs and organizations reach out to address community needs and also offer opportunities for spiritual growth to members of our faith community. Bible studies and other Christian education programs offer answers to the questions posed by post-modern life.
