Winter Greens Organic Gardens:

What we grow: The basis of the weekly share is our Gourmet Salad Greens - our signature blend of 15 leaf, butterhead and romaine lettuce varieties and some or all of the following: arugula, curly cress, radicchio, mizuna, cornsalad, golden purslane, red and green baby pak choy, red and green spinach, green, red and purple mustards, sorrel, rapini, red kale, red chard, tatsoi, magenta lamb's quarters and nasturtium flowers Lettuces make up 50 to 60% of this mix. This season, we're also planting assorted asian greens, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cucumbers, green garlic, red scallions, green beans, mustard greens, collard greens, kohlrabi, summer leeks, red celery, red kale, savoy cabbage, rainbow chard, sugar snap peas, baby crookneck summer squash, rat's tail radish pods, new potatoes, cherry tomatoes, mixed sweet and hot peppers, watercress, wheatgrass, zuchinni and assorted herbs. Share: A share is a bag (about 1# or more) of Gourmet Salad Greens. Usually enough for two people to eat a salad daily for a week. Each season we limit the number of shares to ensure that we can continue to provide a fair amount of produce on a weekly basis. A share is only valid for the current year. Cost: Those subscribers selected for 2011 shares will need to pay a contribution of $50 by April 15, 2011. This is to cover the costs of seeds, soil, planting etc and is not refundable. Thereafter each subscriber will be entitled to purchase a share of fresh greens weekly at $10/week. Subscribers will be notified by phone or email what other produce is available each week and will have the first opportunity to purchase it. If you decline to purchase your weekly share it will be offered to those people on our waiting list or the general public while it is still fresh. There are no provisions for holding shares. You will still retain you shareholder priority for the following week's harvest. When/Where: We anticipate that shares will be available beginning Tuesday, June 21st and continue through Tuesday, September 6 th for a total of 12 weeks. Favorable weather and we may be able to start sooner and/or go later, however if we don't have the weather our season may be cut shorter. Remember there are no guarantees in agriculture. Shares will be available for pick-up Tuesday afternoons at Winter Greens or Saturday at the Soldotna Saturday Market. You are responsible for purchasing and picking up your weekly share. If you cannot make arrangements to 'shop' for your fresh produce Tuesday or Saturday then you should reconsider whether Winter Greens CSA is the right choice for you. Winter Greens is open to the public Tuesdays - Saturday noon-8pm from May 24 -Aug 21. You may stop by during those times and if we have produce available for sale you may purchase it. Tuesdays and Saturdays are the only days that subscribers are given a priority.
