Earth Day at Bayou Vermilion District. This year, it’s so big, it’s Earth Weekend. It all starts Saturday, April 20 with Parish Proud Day, 9-12 noon. Volunteers will gather at Vermilionville and set to work on several projects: trash clearing, trail building, gardening and more. If you’d like to give a few hours to help, visit the Parish Proud Facebook page and click on their volunteer portal. Ducks Unlimited will also be at Vermilionville Saturday, conducting their Conservation for Kids program, beginning at 10 AM.

Continue to celebrate life on earth Sunday as Earth Weekend continues at Vermilionville. It’s Vermilionville’s Earth Day Celebration, Sunday, April 21, 10 AM – 4 PM. There will be a variety of activities: crafts, recycling, plants, workshops, demonstrations, plus music, food, even The Worm Lady Recycles!

Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Road Runners will be on stage at the Performance Center 1-4 PM, TRAIL will be on hand, the Sierra Club, Lafayette Master Gardeners and a host of other organizations dedicated to making the planet more livable and sustainable, including: Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society, Acadiana Wildlife, the Citizen’s Climate Lobby, Acadiana Nature Station, Acadiana Brown Cotton, Acadiana Beekeepers Guild, Lafayette Bike and Pedestrian, Backyard Sapphire Glass Recycling and the Acadiana Native Plant Project.

Admission to our Earth Day Celebration is only $5 for Adults, $3 for Seniors and Students, so bring your family and friends, do your part to make the planet a better place, and have fun at the Earth Weekend Celebration at Vermilionville.
