Raksha Soni has entitled her art exhibit “The Spirit of Indian Folk Art.” In describing the exhibit, Raksha provides the following in her own words: “I am fascinated by the richness and diversity of traditional Indian folk-art forms, which has been an important part of the culture and passed down through generations. It’s not just an artistic expression but also a way to portray the stories, memories, values and beliefs. I would like to share the rich heritage and variety of Indian folk arts forms from different regions of India. My work is done in Madhubani (from Bihar), Kalamkari (from Andhra Pradesh), Pichwai (from Rajasthan), PattaChitra (from Orissa) and Kerala Mural (from Kerala) styles.”

Artist provided biography: Raksha Soni is a versatile visual artist and educator. She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions, where she has showcased her signature style; from intricate Madhubani and Kalamkari Indian folk-art paintings to lush, opulent landscapes that capture the nostalgia and emotion of India. Her interest and devotion to Indian traditional art and mythology has influenced her work and there is a story behind every folk-art painting.
