A gorgeous atmospheric drama on the German shores, a bizarre and hilarious police investigation, and a visually-striking portrait of underprivileged French youth. Film director and Norfolk resident, Diego Ongaro will introduce three under-the-radar contemporary films with unique voices, highlighting the creative richness and vitality of the European film landscape.

First up is Afire (2023) directed by Christian Petzold. Hypnotic, witty and poignant, Afire follows a group of friends on the Baltic sea where emotions runs high as the parched forest around them catches fire. It's a genre-defying comedy of manners from the German master Christian Petzold and could be an Eric Rohmer movie that escaped from the 1970s.
