From: City Of Evanston

Evanston property owners concerned about their property taxes can submit an appeal to the Cook County Assessor through September 9, 2022.

Property owners may file an appeal on their own online at cookcountyassessor.com/online-appeals. Filing online is a simple and quick process that should take no more than 20 minutes. Those who wish to see a list of available comparable properties should email Mitzi Gibbs at [email protected].

Property owners seeking assistance filing an appeal can email Mitzi Gibbs at [email protected] or visit cityofevanston.org/onlineappeal to complete and electronically sign an appeal authorization form to have their appeal filed on their behalf.

It is highly recommended that property owners file their appeals online or complete an electronic appeal authorization form in lieu of in-person visits. The office will be available by appointment only through September 9.

As a reminder, Cook County tax bills always arrive one year late. Property owners should note that the money-saving effects of successful 2022 appeals will not appear on tax bills until the summer or fall of 2023.

The Cook County Assessor's Office is hosting a Facebook Live event for Evanston residents on Thursday, August 25 at 5:30 p.m. Tune in live on Facebook or YouTube to learn more about the appeal process.
