Crape Myrtle Festival, Fireworks and Parade

The Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas will be in full-bloom and ready to celebrate Independence Day with the 24th Annual Crape Myrtle Festival and Parade.

Sunday, July 3, 2022

The patriotic celebration will begin on Sunday, July 3, at 6 p.m. with a tailgate party at the Waxahachie Sports Complex located at 151 Broadhead Rd.Madness Entertainment will entertain the crowd before the concert.

This year, guests will enjoy a concert by King George: A Tribute to George Strait at 7:30 p.m.Following the concert will be the spectacular H-E-B and City of Waxahachie fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.

The Huf Construction Kid Zone will offer FREE activities for the children to enjoy. There will also be a variety of food vendors for families to purchase from in the food court.

Spectators are encouraged to tune their radio to KBEC 1390/99.1 during the fireworks show for a special simulcast of patriotic music choreographed to the fireworks. Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are allowed at the Waxahachie Sports Complex; however, personal fireworks are prohibited.

On July 4, the celebration will continue at 10 a.m. with a hometown parade. The parade will line up at Getzendaner Park, head east on Main Street to Rogers Street, and end in the 500 block of South Rogers.

All Veterans and active service personnel, including veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan War on Terror, are honored guests in the parade. Before the parade, veterans plus one guest are invited to the Dan McClinton Veterans’ Memorial Breakfast, sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie, at the Chautauqua Auditorium beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The Crape Myrtle Festival and Parade are FREE to the public.
