Since 1974, the National Asparagus Festival has been a much-anticipated annual event. What began as a small gathering has grown into an event that draws attendees from around the world. This year marks our 50th Anniversary, and we are planning a celebration like none other. The National Asparagus Festival is a great place to come and celebrate asparagus in all its forms. Join us for a parade, a variety of delicious asparagus-inspired dishes, arts and craft vendors and much more. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Queen's Pageant & Fundraiser

June 3rd, 2023

The 2023 Asparagus Queen's Pageant & Fundraiser is June 3rd at the West Michigan Research Station. Tickets are a $7 donation at the door with ages 12 & under at $5 and ages 5 & under free. Doors will open at 4pm to allow for an opportunity to socialize with the Queen Candidates. Light Refreshments are sponsored by Dark Water Coffee and Merten's Farmhouse Market LLC. We are thrilled to have our 2018 Asparagus Queen Kendra Larios-Mendez MC the Pageant this year! The pageant will begin at 4:30pm promptly. 

This fun-filled evening is where we crown the next Asparagus Queen! The newly crowned Queen will receive a $1,000 scholarship award! The funds can be used towards continuing education or to make a contribution to a local non-profit approved by the NAF Board of Directors. A special THANK YOU to ALL of our supporters for their generous contributions, especially those that helped initiate the scholarship fund and allowed it to continue since 2016. 

All ticket sale proceeds go towards the Queen Scholarship/Donation Fund.  

*Tickets are available at the door the night of the event.

The Joan Glover NAF Royale Parade is an extravagant display of various bands, floats, queens, dignitaries and antique vehicles and is the largest parade in Oceana County! This parade is a long-time community favorite and attracts people from all over the state of Michigan. After months of planning and weeks of redesigning, our float takes the street to introduce our newly crowned asparagus royalty. Follow the float as it travels throughout the state to various parades and festivals carrying our home-grown Asparagus Queen and 1st Runner-up!

Taste of Asparagus Competition

June 10, 2023

at Heritage Hall - Historic District

The NAF’s Annual Taste of Asparagus Competition is an opportunity for asparagus lovers to share their favorite asparagus dishes. All Commercial, Non-Commercial, and Youth (age 17 or under) entrants will compete for a 1st place. The dish receiving the most votes from a panel of 3 judges will be declared the overall winner of the

Commercial, Non-Commercial, or Youth Divisions respectively. The public will also vote for their favorite asparagus dish and the winner will receive the coveted 

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD! The Asparagus Queen will also be selecting the “Queen’s Choice” for her overall favorite dish!

Arts   Crafts Fair

June 10, 2023

This event is sure to be your "one-stop-shop" location for the most unique homemade goods. Each year our Arts & Crafts Fair is one of the most popular craft shows in the area. We host a wide variety of more than sixty crafters traveling from all over the state of Michigan to display hundreds of products that are truly one-of-a-kind. This event is located on the lawn of the Oceana County Courthouse in downtown Hart, right in the middle of all of the festivities. Be sure to grab your favorite carnival treat to enjoy as you make your way through!
