Season's Greetings!

As we stand on the brink of a new chapter in the Mulvane Art Museum's storied history, we are filled with immense gratitude and excitement. We extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who has played a role in making 100 years of art possible.

Your unwavering support has been the foundation upon which the Mulvane has thrived and evolved over the past century. From the very beginning, your dedication to the arts and commitment to our community have shaped the museum into a beacon of creativity, inspiration, and cultural enrichment.

We look ahead to the next chapter with immense pride in the legacy we have built together and with boundless excitement for the future. As renovations on the museum are completed, we are thrilled to announce that when we reopen our doors in 2024, you will be greeted by a host of new and exciting developments. Our upcoming exhibitions promise to captivate and inspire; our educational programs will continue to foster a love for art in learners of all ages; and a series of programs led by visiting artists will bring fresh perspectives to the work we do. Watch for updates after the first of the year when we will share details about the reopening of the museum and the activities that we have in store.

Once again, thank you for your enduring support. We can't wait to welcome you back in 2024 for a year of celebration and exploration at the Mulvane Art Museum!

With sincere gratitude,
Connie Gibbons, Director
Mulvane Art Museum

Have a safe and warm holiday season! We look forward to reconnecting with you in 2024!

FROM THE COLLECTION
In celebration of the holidays, we are pleased to share this final post for 2023 with a highlight of an artwork from the Mulvane permanent collection.

In this woodcut, Frank Peers transforms the time-honored motif of Madonna and Child. Using the angular, fragmented stylization of Art Deco, Peers depicts the Madonna as a glamorous beauty who looks lovingly down at her tiny infant. Buildings in the background seem to place the pair in a glittering, 1930s urban setting. Patterns of straight lines emanate from the figures and rebound around the composition, creating a rhythm that enfolds them both. The love and connection between a mother and her child radiate from the print.
