NRM's "A Night of Wonder" Gala To Feature One-Night-Only Musical Performance by Bob Telson and Friends

Norman Rockwell Museum (NRM) is pleased to announce that Bob Telson and Friends will perform at the Norman Rockwell Museum's Gala, "A Night of Wonder," on Saturday, June 10, 2023. This group of outstanding musicians and vocalists from LA and New York will join together in the Berkshires for the first time for a one-night-only performance to help NRM raise important funds.

In addition to the music, guests will enjoy creative cuisine, mystical drinks, parades, puzzles, and interactive performances by actors, magicians, and more under a tent and on the grounds of the Norman Rockwell Museum. Costumes that reflect time travel, flights of fancy, and imagination are encouraged.

"Our season opening event, A Night of Wonder Gala, celebrates our summer exhibition, Tony Sarg: Genius at Play, bringing together the Museum's friends to reconnect and support the Museum we all love," said NRM's Director/CEO Laurie Norton Moffatt.

"It will be a sparkling night of the unexpected, the mysterious, the unique, the surprising, and the unforgettable. A wondrous world inspired by the art of Tony Sarg, will offer many surprises," described Ellen Spear, the Museum's chief philanthropy officer.

Bob Telson and Friends is a special ensemble coming together for this event. Bob Telson, a classically trained American composer and multi-instrumentalist, has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award. His work spans many world music styles and has been recorded by Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Natalie Cole, George Benson, Joe Cocker, Etta James, k.d. lang, Shawn Colvin, George Michael, and The Five Blind Boys of Alabama.

"We're so excited to be performing together at Norman Rockwell Museum. This will be an opportunity for Jon, Maria, Bob, Juan, Julieta, and me to try some new material and to play some of our favorites. It's rare that all of us from both coasts, get an opportunity to perform in such a beautiful setting doing what we love. And it's especially meaningful to be able to help the Museum," said Bob Telson.

Joining Telson will be Jazz and Brazilian vocalist and recording artist Maria Puga Lareo, and Uruguayan singer, songwriter, and Latin Grammy Award nominee Julieta Rada. Juan Chiavassa, who has performed on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, with rap superstar and multi-Grammy-winning artist Residente and Bad Bunny, will play percussion. 

Jon Herington, a New York City-based guitarist, singer/songwriter, producer, and bandleader, as well as guitarist of choice with the iconic band Steely Dan, will be performing. Bob Sheppard, an in-demand saxophonist and woodwind player who has worked with a wide variety of artists, including Freddie Hubbard, Billy Childs, Chick Corea, Peter Erskine, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young, will be the final addition to the ensemble. The group will be performing new material as well as Telson's classics. creative cuisine, mystical drinks, parades, puzzles, and interactive performances by actors, magicians, and more under a tent and on the grounds of the Norman Rockwell Museum. Costumes that reflect time travel, flights of fancy, and imagination are encouraged.
