Staff Pick

Sistersong by Lucy Holland

Sistersong is a fantasy folktale that follows the story of three royal siblings (Keyne, Riva, and Sinne) in the kingdom of Dumonia in medieval Britain. Each of the siblings are magic users in some capacity, and are the last hope for restoring the magic of the land. They must test the strength of their loyalty to each other and the kingdom to overcome the hardships that followed their father's abandonment of the old religion. An imaginative and compelling expansion of the traditional British murder ballad "The Twa Sisters," Sistersong is a great read for any fan of folktale and fairytale retellings like Genevieve Gornichec's The Witch's Heart and Katherine Arden's The Bear and the Nightingale
