Dear Friend of the Arts Foundation,

A little less than a year ago, professional musician Alex Torres and His Latin Orchestra were working side-by-side with students at Mashpee Public Schools as part of an arts-in-education residency.

Over the course of two days, there were small-group workshops, a concert in which the orchestra performed with the school band, and a larger show for the entire community.

Originally scheduled for 2020, the program was postponed for two years.

“I had a colleague come up to me with tears of joy in her eyes telling me, 'This is what we needed at this time after being isolated and being locked down by the pandemic for so long,” Tim Rumberger, the world language department chair for Mashpee Public Schools, told me.

Thanks to your support, we are breaking down financial barriers through AFCC Access which allows children to boost their confidence, tap into their creativity, and build strong social connections with their peers.

Through your support, we connected over 5,500 Cape students in 2022 to similar experiences through AFCC Access and grant giving.

They included:

-Children of Coast Guard families on Joint Base Cape Cod who bonded with their parents during specialized music classes aimed at strengthening family engagement.

-Funding for a child to attend a creative movement class at Cape Cod Theater Company. Her parent suffered an injury, was unable to work and pay for her daughter's class.

-Students in the Music Production Club at Sturgis Public Charter School who are learning the skills to become stage runners, sound engineers, and recording engineers.

Yes, I Believe All Children Should Have Access to the Arts!

“Art is a gateway into understanding yourself as a human being, The arts open so many doors for children.” An AFCC Access Parent

Your gift will benefit AFCC programs which are providing our community much-needed joy; offering healing; inspiring connections; serving as a pathway to understanding who we are as individuals; and building a healthy, vibrant Cape Cod.

Support from you will ensure all our programs – grant giving, AFCC Access, the Creative Exchange, and advocacy – can continue to bolster the arts, making them more accessible, more welcoming, and more impactful for all in our region.

From all of us at the Arts Foundation, thank you for Standing with the Arts!

With gratitude,

P.S. We are just $5,000 away from closing our mid-year campaign to raise $25,000 that benefits children, families, and our community here on Cape Cod. We would be grateful for your gift today. Thank you!
