LAKEWOOD THEATRE COMPANY TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR ELF THE MUSICAL
JULY 30 & 31, 2022

Lakewood Theatre Company will be having open auditions for select roles for Elf the Musical SATURDAY, JULY 30 and SUNDAY, JULY 31. Sign up online to secure an audition appointment at this link.  Call 503-635-3901 if you need assistance with sign up.

Elf the Musical is directed by Tom Graff. The musical director is Cyndy Ramsey-Rier and choreography is by Terry Brock.

Many of the cast members from Lakewood's 2021 production will be returning, but the directors are casting actors for additional ensemble roles and possibly featured roles. All actors will receive remuneration. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition. For more information about the roles, please click here.

Callbacks will be held on Monday, Aug 1st,  6:30-9:30 PM and possibly Wednesday, Aug 3rd.  

Audition Location: Lakewood Theatre Company at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.

Audition Requirements:

- Please submit online your appointment request along with your resume and headshot by following the instructions on the online audition site. Note: list all conflicts between September 25 – December 18, 2022. Conflicts not listed at the time of the audition may not be honored.You can email a resume and headshot to [email protected] and note ELF AUDITION and your LAST NAME in the subject line. Please bring both resume and headshot to your audition appointment as backup.

- The directors are casting actors for ages to appear 14 and older.

- Please prepare 32 bars (approx 1 minute) from an up-tempo Broadway song (no Sondheim please). You MAY be asked to sing a ballad as well. Please make sure your song is in the correct key for your voice. An accompanist will be provided. Please, no recorded music or a cappella singing. Also note: you may be asked to sing from the score at the callbacks.

- Dance auditions: Tap and Jazz are required to be considered for the chorus dance/ musical numbers, Please be prepared to demonstrate single and double time steps. Auditioners will be led through both tap and jazz sequences at the dance audition. The dance audition will be held at 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Plan to come before OR after your audition appointment time for group dance audition on your audition day. Allow approximately 1 hour for the dance audition and bring tap and jazz shoes.

Callbacks: if needed, will be at the director's discretion. Conflicts not listed at the time of audition may not be honored.

Rehearsals: Rehearsals are scheduled to begin the end of September and continue weeknights 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM, and also on either Saturdays or Sundays, noon – 5 PM. A final schedule will be determined after the first cast meeting. 

Performance Schedule: Elf the Musical opens November 4, 2022 and continues through December 18, 2022. Performances are Thurs-Sat at 7:30 PM, Sundays, at 2:00 PM, one Saturday performance at 2:00 PM, and two Wednesday performances at 7:30 PM. Lakewood Theatre Company features an intimate 220-seat theatre located at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.

About the Musical:  A title known the world over, Elf The Musical is easily becoming an annual holiday tradition. Based on the cherished 2003 New Line Cinema hit, Elf. The stage production features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar (The Wedding Singer) and Chad Beguelin (Disney's Aladdin on Broadway), with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone).

The Story: Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Lakewood encourages diversity in casting and the directing team is strongly seeking artists of any race, gender, and body type. Ensemble members may play multiple roles.
