Introduction to Camera Basics

Monday, September 18

6:30pm – 8:30pm

Photography requires an understanding of your camera as a tool. You will learn the basics of your camera’s menus, modes and functions while interacting with other students and instructor Michael Miller.  

You will leave this workshop with the confidence of using your camera, inspired and ready for the next step – Photography Basics. 

(All types of digital cameras are welcome (DSLR, mirrorless, or compact)

Precious Metal Clay Workshop With Jennifer Kirsch

Dates: Tuesday, September 19

Time: 11:00am -2:00 pm

No experience necessary.

We will cover:

- Basics of handling wet precious metal clay including molding, rolling, texturing, cutting, and shaping 

- Basics of refining clay in the dry or green stage, including polishing and drilling a hole. 

Each student will design and create 2-3 molded fine silver pieces with a textured bail (pendant) as well as the choice of earrings or charm(s). You will be provided with all supplies, including 25 grams of Art Clay fine silver, SS jump rings or ear wires, and use of all materials.  

Explore Watercolor Painting

Thursdays October  5-12-19-26

Time: 11:30 – 1:30 pm

A guaranteed painting with each class!

Susanna Anastasia comes to Belmar Arts having spent 30 plus years teaching the basics of watercolor painting.

Students will begin to explore the mechanics of this medium along with the properties of paint, paper and water.

You will be proud of the results.

Learn to Paint! Landscape, Seascape, and Still Life Oil Painting

This course is designed for beginners who wish to explore oil painting as it applies to landscape, seascape, and still life. Oil painting techniques, such as basic color mixing, composition, wet-on-wet application, and depiction of light and shadow will be covered.

Mixed Media Collage

4 Part Series

October 3, 10, 17, 24 

Each class you will leave with a finished product or two. However, think about these sessions as creativity exercises. This workshop is good for the beginning artist, someone who doesn’t believe they are an artist, or even the most experienced artist. A prompt will be given each class and the goal will be to problem solve with a fresh perspective. Focus with be on shape and space with the ability to infuse your personal style.

Mosaic Workshop with Linda Baran

Dates: Saturday, October 14

Time: 1:00pm -5:00 pm

Express yourself through mosaic art. 

This workshop is the perfect introduction to creating your own mosaics. 

No experience necessary.

We will cover:

- Basics of scoring and breaking tile and mirror. 

- Free form design layout and tile application.

- Grout coloring, mixing and application.

Each student will create a unique piece of mosaic art.

Poetry Night

Poetry Lovers! Every 3rd Friday, we will be hosting the New Jersey Poetry Renaissance. As you may have seen on PBS, the NJPR has made their mark in venues across the state.  They are a collective of poets, as well as musicians and comedians, who come together to showcase their poems and support each other. They directly inspire and sometimes change the lives of those who are in attendance with there stories, messages, and their courage. We so excited to bring the NJ Poetry Renaissance to the BAC.

The Mark LaRochelle Youth Open Mic program is sponsored by the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation. This program supports and encourages young musicians to perform in a live setting. The program also raises funds for our annual music scholarships.

The Fiber Friday shared interest group has changed its name to “Mixed Media Makers" in order to represent more exactly the diversity of materials and processes our members use to create art. Our group welcomes all makers and creators in any media who wish to share and inspire each other in a fun and inviting community.

Please bring along something for Show and Tell. We also have a swap table for sharing unwanted books, materials and art supplies.
