3:00 pm - 6:00 pm: Tree of Honor Lighting Ceremony

Bessemer Blast will hold it’s annual Tree of Honor Lighting Ceremony on June 29 in the Pocket Park on Sophie Street next to Abelman’s.

The Tree of Honor recognizes and honors our military past and present who have served our country so honorably.  A brochure will be available at the ceremony and a plaque will be on display with all of the names.  A tree will be lit with red, white, and blue lights honoring these individuals and will remain lit throughout the Bessemer Blast Festivities.

You may purchase a light for $5.00 to honor your loved ones.  June 15th will be the last day to purchase a light and ensure your loved one’s name will be placed on the plaque.  Fill out the online form below and pay via PayPal or with a credit card or download a PDF form to print and mail in your submission or drop off at General Insurance in Bessemer.

Deadline for registration is June 15.

The Bessemer 4th of July 3 on 3 Tournament is a Double-Elimination Basketball Tournament with divisions from 4th grade through adult for males and females. This is an outdoor event and will take place on Sunday, July 2 starting at 9:00 AM on Mary Street in front of the old Big Dollar.

Get the bikes, scooters, and wagons decorated and get out the kid’s patriotic clothes and costumes for the annual Bessemer 4th of July Childrens’ Parade!

Kids will line up starting at 1:00pm at the Bessemer City Hall and the parade will progress down Sophie Street led by a Bessemer City Fire Truck finishing at the corner of Sophie and Mary Streets.

Pack the streets of Bessemer for the biggest 4th of July parade around! Come listen to bands, see performers, honor our country and stand for the color guard, see floats from local organizations and businesses, and have a good time with family and friends.

The parade starts at 7:00pm with floats lining up on South Moore Street prior to this. The parade will progress from Moore Street then taking a left onto Colby Street to City Hall where it will progress down our main street, Sophie Street, through the middle of town ending on Silver Street. People pack the streets all along the route. Get out early to find your spot!

Prior to the parade, there will be entertainment on the parade route by the Bessemer High School Band, a dance showcase at the corner of Sophie and Mary Streets by BAHS Dance Studio and the Memory Lane Car Cruise put on by the local Klassic Kruisers car club.

Judges’ Platform is located at the intersection of Sophie and Mary Streets.

Get together for the sendoff to the 4th of July festivities in Bessemer at the Thunder on the Mountain Fireworks Display. Bessemer Volunteer Firefighters will be shooting fireworks off from the Bluff in Bluff Valley Park to onlookers gathered in Massie Field, home of the Bessemer Speedboys and Speedgirls. Ground displays at the field will also delight young and old. Bring all of the family down from young to old to finish off your 4th of July with a bang!
