Coming Up at Bethesda

You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream For...

The annual Ice Cream Social is this Sunday, August 27th at 4:00 pm.

We need your help -

scooping ice cream, setting up and tearing down, and helping out with other activities.

We also could use some delicious home-baked treats to go along with the ice cream. And or course, plan on enjoying a delicious cool treat!

Former Vicar, Kurt, Is Getting Ordained at BLC!

Good News and Save the Date!

Kurt Saenger-Heyl (former Vicar) will be ordained at Bethesda on Saturday, September 2, 10:00 am

Message from Kurt:

It is with great joy and excitement that I announce that yesterday, Sunday, July 30, Trinity Lutheran Church in Centerbrook, Connecticut voted to call me as their next pastor! It has been a long but incredible call process and I am so excited to begin my professional ministry career with all the folks at Trinity!

We will need some BLC volunteers to make his ordination service possible--look forward to those requests in the eNews!

Ann Louise Onton is Headed to Japan!! Help Donate

Dear Friends, Family, Colleagues, and Fellow Athletes,

It’s summer again, and I’m up to my usual midsummer madness! This year, instead of an open water swim, I will be competing in the 2023 World Aquatics Masters Championships in Kyushu, Japan, on Aug. 5-7. I will be swimming the 800 free, the 100 breast, the 400 IM. and the 50 fly. Why am I swimming those crazy events, you ask? Because those are the ones I qualified in! I will be competing in the 80-84 age group, although I will not be quite 80, because the rules say that age for competition goes by age as of Dec. 31. So, as the baby in the age group, my chances for success couldn’t be better! I am still swimming for St. Vincent’s Foundation Swim Across the Sound., which benefits patients and their families impacted by cancer, as well as sponsoring cancer prevention programs, diagnostic clinics, recovery programs, and more.

To donate go to https://swimacrossthesound.org/checkout/donate?donatePageId=607db216018b1c01da9969b7

When making your donation please add the following in the "Additional Information" section: Ann Louise Onton 2023 World Aquatics Masters Championships

For paper donations, make check out and mail to St. Vincent’s Foundation, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606, with 2023 SAS in the Memo. (Any amount is accepted; however, the Foundation acknowledges all donations over $25.)

Lastly, remember that the true competitors are those suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses. So, please give generously.

Thanking you for your kind generosity,

Ann Louise
