Want to learn about seismic retrofitting? Does your property need a retrofit? With the city of Beverly Hills passing the seismic retrofit ordinance. Learn about how other cities are doing the ordinance.

The City of Beverly Hills is taking a proactive approach to earthquake safety with the goal to help protect people and minimize damage of vulnerable buildings in the event of a major earthquake. As such, the City has developed a mandatory seismic retrofit ordinance intended at strengthening existing wood-frame multi-family soft-story buildings.

The new ordinance (No. 18-O-2767) was adopted at the December 11, 2018 formal City Council meeting. The ordinance became effective on January 11, 2019. We are proud to partner with the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles & the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce. To register, click here.

Beverly Hills City Council Conditionally Approves Cheval Blanc Project

At its meeting on September 20, the Beverly Hills City Council conditionally approved the Cheval Blanc Beverly Hills hotel project. The Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) hotel will have nine stories and 109 rooms, as well as a public restaurant on the ground floor, a hotel guest restaurant on the second floor, and a private club on the third floor.

LVMH has spent the past couple of years working with the City's planning department to ensure modifications to the project would be acceptable to the City. This includes widening the pedestrian walkway in front of the building to ensure nearby public alleyway use and building an environmentally sustainable hotel that could achieve LEED gold certification.

The Council must revisit the project at the October 11th city council meeting to discuss the draft development agreement with LVMH. To read more click here.
