Let's Talk! English Conversation Groups
Tuesdays starting September 19 from 1 - 2pm OR Thursdays starting September 21 from 10 - 11am
Join us for an English Conversation Group at the Blackstone Library! This group is for ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) adults to practice their English-speaking skills in an informal setting.

Intro to A.I. Chatbots
Thursday, September 21 from 2 - 3pm

ChatGPT and other generative A.I. products are all over the news these days, but just what exactly is an A.I. Chatbot? How does it work? And what are some practical applications for both your work and personal life? In this class, led by Reference Librarians Jordan Nolan and Christina Kondziela, you’ll learn the basics of these different applications and get answers to your questions.

Local Poetry Showcase
Thursday, September 21 from 6:30 - 7:30pm

Nancy Manning, William Moorhead, and Karen J. Ciosek are three poets who wish to share their poetry with the Branford community. Nancy will read selections from her most recent poetry books, Amethyst Garden, The Unspoken of Our Days, and newly released What Glues Us Together. Bill will read a variety of poetry with themes of playing baseball, humor, and science. Karen will read selections from her chapbook, Navigating the Poet’s Sky, a collection of bird poems, as well as poetry from her next book.

Meet the Author: Tony Renzoni
Saturday, September 23 from 12 - 4pm

Join us for a meet and greet book signing with Branford author Tony Renzoni! He’ll be featuring his most recent title, Connecticut’s Girls of Summer: the Brakettes and the Falcons. It tells the stories of two of the greatest sports teams to come out of Connecticut: the legendary Brakettes and Falcons women's fast-pitch softball teams.

He’ll also have copies of his other books for sale: Connecticut Rock ‘n’ Roll: A History, Historic Connecticut Music Venues: From the Coliseum to the Shaboo, Connecticut Softball Legend Joan Joyce, and Connecticut Bootlegger Queen Nellie Green

All books will be discounted to $20 each (cash only).

Color & Conversation

Enjoy engaging conversation and explore your creativity at our adult coloring group! Coloring is a great way to keep the brain engaged and the body relaxed–plus it’s a great place to make new friends. All materials provided, but feel free to bring your own supplies too.

Confused about your new iPhone or iPad? Need help formatting a Word document? Drop in to the library between 11am & 12pm to get a tech question answered. First come, first served. Sessions will be limited to 15 minutes per person.

Voter Information Drop-in
Tuesday, September 26 from 3 - 7pm

Did you know September 26th is National Voter Registration Day? With local elections happening this November and national elections next year, it’s important to make sure you’re registered to vote. The League of Women Voters will be at the Blackstone to provide election information as well as voter registration for residents of any town/city in CT.

Saturday Cinema: Book Club: The Next Chapter

Movie magic, now at Blackstone! Join us for Saturday Cinema and see a highly anticipated new release on our big screen in the auditorium. Showings are the last Saturday of the month at 2:00pm.

This month we’re watching Book Club: The Next Chapter (2023, PG-13). It follows the new journey of four best friends as they take their book club to Italy for the fun girls trip they never had.
