Roots of Rhythms: Celebrating our Caribbean Diversity

Eight Shows Over Four Weekends

June 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24

Join us every weekend this June for the 20th Annual Bronx River Sounds Performing Arts Festival! The year, the theme is Roots of Rhythms: Celebrating our Caribbean Diversity. Prepare yourself for an immersive and hypnotic tropical Afro-Caribbean experience with a New York City vibe that'll get you out of your seat, stomping your feet, shaking your bottoms, and re-energize your minds and spirits.

Our upcoming second week of performances will feature an onslaught of jazz performances. Tonight (June 9th), Santi Debriano and Akestra Bembe will play a slew of original compositions and arrangements from their album "Ashanti". Tomorrow night (June 10th), world-renowned percussionist Valtinho Anastacio and his accompanying musicians will play some Brazilian jazz. Headlining the closing weekend on June 22nd will be two-time Grammy winner and Bronx native Will Colhoun (of Living Color) and his ensemble gracing us with Afro-Futurism Jazz. Additionally, the festival will present performers delivering traditional Puerto Rican Bomba y Plena, West African dance, Salsa, Reggae, and more.

Missed a performance? Previous shows will be made available on our YouTube channel as the festival continues. Listen to Elio Villafranca's cuban jazz sextet from last weekend here!
