Still Time to Register If You Missed the Deadline

BRAC’s education program runs for 10 weeks (October 3rd to December 17th) and offers afternoon, evening and Saturday classes for children, teenagers, youth, and adults. Classes meet once a week for 2 hours in our state-of-the-art Fine Arts Studio, Ceramics Studio, and Digital Media Lab. Our education program in Visual Arts include: painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media and cartooning. Our Digital Media Arts program includes illustration, animation, photography, and web design. For more information, and class availability, visit our Education Page.

Convergence: Artists & Community

BRAC's 35th Anniversary Exhibition

On view through October 22nd

In celebration of BRAC’s 35th Anniversary, teaching artists (educators at BRAC) and resident studio artists present their works in this survey exhibition that includes paintings, drawings, printmaking, mixed media, and performance art. CONVERGENCE, the exhibition, offers a window to diverse contemporary art practices which speak about a variety of approaches for creative processes. Attending audiences will be able to appreciate diverse media, artistic techniques, as well as content and aesthetic context. All works will be for sale to help keep BRAC’s programs affordable or free.

Participating artists include: Marta Blair, Tiffany Miller, Tammy Wofsey, Jennifer Tomaiolo, Hector Canonge, Ana Ruiz-Castillo, Jessica Lagunas, Blanka Amezkkua, Karine Duteil, Nadej Hocini, Aurelio Del Muro, Ruth Marshall, Gail Nathan, Daniel Aros, Michele Brody, Kraig Blue, David Cavaliero, Lili Chin, Jonathan Berry, and Gregory Maldonado.

IN CONVERSATION

Artists featured in our current exhibition

October 22nd, 5pm to 6:15pm

Bronx River Art Center continues with the presentation of the monthly Artist Talk & Presentation series IN CONVERSATION. For October, Gail Nathan and Hector Canonge, organizers of the exhibition, will be in conversation with participating teaching artists and studio resident artists featured in the current exhibition CONVERGENCE: Artists & Community.

IN CONVERSATION fosters dialogue, exchange and reflection about Contemporary Art issues by featuring local, national, and international guest artists working in various disciplines and creative practices. The monthly program consists of the presentation of selected works followed by an open forum with attending audience members.

Scary Night at BRAC

Halloween Extravaganza

October 29th, 5pm to 8pm

BRAC will host a special Halloween event on Saturday, October 29th from 5pm to 8pm. Join our teaching artists, staff members, students and parents. Come and celebrate a scary and fun evening of music, candy, party favors, and FREE Halloween. The best and most outrageous costumes will receive a special gift.

THE SÉANCE

A Night of Multimedia Theater Performance

November 2022

Local artist, Jeanai La Vita, brings to BRAC her theatrical concert event The Séance incorporating a hybrid of semi-improvised contemporary classical singing with live music and a film with soundscape created by the artist and Giacomo La Vita. The theatrical concert invites audience members to commune with the performers as they channel stories and messages from beyond. The ensemble of instrumentalists accompanying the performance will create a special live score in reaction to BRAC’s space.
