Pitching Creed II to Stallone: “I was sitting with Sylvester Stallone and Irwin Winkler…who produced Goodfellas. Between the two of them, that's about as close to Hollywood royalty as we get at this particular moment in time.”

Denzel and The Magnificent Seven: “There was a line of dialogue that I was like, ‘Man, that's not the best line I’ve ever seen…I wonder how Denzel is going to do this.’ Of course, he does it and it's like the best version of that line reading that has ever existed in the universe…He took it and turned it into something spectacular.”

Auditioning Mekai Curtis and Patina Miller: “Mekai came in and he gave the character this sort of sensitivity and depth that I don't know that we totally expected…He just showed us something that we didn't know was there. Patina flew to LA and she read for it as soon as she started doing it, and it was a wrap…I don't think there's any actress on TV doing better work than Patina Miller.”

Early concert days with Miley Cyrus: “We did the live concert performances for “Hannah Montana.”…It was crazy because no one knew if it was gonna work. It was so funny too, because we had her [Cyrus] performing on this stage, and we populated the venue with kids and stuff like that. They had no idea who Miley Cyrus was. So these kids were kind of like, ‘Who the hell is this?’ Miley Cyrus was nobody, and it's kind of amazing to look back at it now and say, ‘Wow, that was how it all started.”
