What is Library Card Sign-Up Month?

National Library Card Sign-Up Month began in 1987 and has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries across the country unite in an effort to ensure every child, teen, and adult has access to their own library card and all the services libraries provide. With Wilmington Memorial Library’s mission statement being  “Community Starts Here,” we thought it was the perfect time to promote the library and the community of Wilmington by partnering with local businesses!

How is Wilmington Memorial Celebrating?

To celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month, we've partnered with local Wilmington businesses to bring you discounts and freebies all month long! Show your WML card at participating businesses and you'll get a fun perk in exchange.

September 3rd to 9th:

Visit Heav'nly Donuts in Wilmington for a free donut

September 11th to 16th:

Visit the library & sign-up for a card and you'll get a free cone coupon from the Wilmington McDonald's

September 18th to 23rd:

Visit EJ's Fresh Pizza in Wilmington and get a "Buy 2 14" pizzas, get a 14" cheese pizza free" deal

September 24th to 30th (Except 9/25, Josie's is closed):

Visit Josie's Bakery in Wilmington for a free cookie

Don't have a library card? No problem! Come visit us at 175 Middlesex Ave. in Wilmington and ask a librarian about signing up!
