Chandler, AZ - The City of Chandler was recognized as one of the top ten Digital Cities Survey award recipients by the Center for Digital Government (CDG). The annual survey recognizes cities using technology to tackle social challenges, enhance services, strengthen cybersecurity and more. Chandler placed sixth nationally in the category for cities with a population of 250,000-499,999. Chandler’s population was estimated at 287,024 as of Nov. 1, 2023.

Chandler has a long-held commitment to innovation and technology, and looks for opportunities for smart, sustainable solutions and innovative ideas that promote efficiency, productivity, and connectivity.

Some of the highlights of Chandler’s top ranking include the Information Technology department’s careful planning to ensure that initiatives align with the overall city strategic framework.

This year a Chief Infrastructure Officer and Chief Applications Officer were added to the team. These two key positions lend support to the entire team to support several ongoing transformational enterprise initiatives.

A multiyear ERP replacement project has been initiated to modernize the city’s financial and human resources tools and improve the customer experience. IT also partnered with the Neighborhood Services team to create a real-time data tool to better guide housing strategies and combat housing instability.

Additionally, Chandler was recognized for its efforts to engage residents in the annual budget process. A six-week multilingual digital campaign resulted in impressive engagement, including website traffic, ad click-throughs and poll participation across multiple social media platforms.

“It is an honor for Chandler, the Community of Innovation, to be recognized again for our efforts to advance digital services,” said City of Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke. “Our staff works tirelessly to enhance technology and processes that benefit residents and businesses.”

“The Digital Cities survey winners continue to push the envelope of how government agencies deliver modern services during a period of rapid technological change,” said Todd Sander, VP, Center for Digital Government and Governing Institute.”
