We Are Open!

Everything Everywhere All At Once; Fiddler’s Journey to the Big Screen; Nick Cave & Warren Ellis: This Much I Know to be True; Deconstructing The Beatles: Let It Be; ABBA: The Movie - 2-Day Fan Event; Buster Keaton in The Cameraman; and more! It's all happening in-person in our newly revitalized space. We are so excited to welcome you back to your independent community cinema and home-away-from-home!

When we closed our doors in March of 2020, like everyone, we thought we would be closed for a matter of weeks. Then when a roof leak caused a cascade of major damage in our building, it was clear that we really had our work cut out for us. But together, we did it! Thanks to federal relief funding, state and county grants, support from the Town of Huntington, corporate gifts, foundation support, and nearly 7,000 gifts from individuals in our community, we completed the necessary renovation work, and provided robust virtual and off-site programs while we did it. With just a skeleton crew working in the face of countless obstacles, we couldn't have done it without your support. We're so grateful to all of you who make the Cinema community the family that it is. Now, together, we enter a new era in the life of our Cinema.

Thanks for standing with us over the past 26 months, and for being part of our future. We can't wait to see you at the Cinema.

Seat Plaque Update

The Development Department is still confirming messages and placements before going to print. If you have any questions, or if you would like to be part of the first batch of new seat plaques, please contact [email protected].

Membership Update - Let's Get Back to 10,000 Strong!

It was always our co-founder Vic Skolnick's dream for the Cinema to reach 10,000 members. We reached that goal shortly after Vic passed in 2010. But during our prolonged shut-down, our numbers did decrease.

For our members who had time on their memberships that was paid for during our closure, we added that time back to your membership now that we have re-opened (except in cases where members opted out to renew at will.) We emailed all of our current members earlier this week with your updated membership information and benefits review. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].

When you come to the Cinema to see one of our great films, please check on your membership status at the Box Office. Now is a great time to join, renew, or upgrade your membership and help us get back to 10,000 strong!

Announcement - The Alpern Family Foundation is Matching Gifts to the Cinema Made in the Month of May!

With our re-opening, we have un-paused our annual Life of Our Cinema Campaign, which will now run through May 31. Our goal is to raise $160,000 to support our programs and operations. The Alpern Family Foundation is matching all of the fully tax-deductible contributions you make to our campaign during the month of May dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $20,000.

Your gift supports four key areas of impact:

CULTURAL IMPACT: CAC presents the widest selection of film and cultural programs for our community. In these times, it is vital to preserve our local arts venues. CAC connects local audiences to film, visual, and performing arts and artists with thousands of screenings and hundreds of special events each year.

SOCIAL IMPACT: CAC serves as an important community center, in our facility—a home away from home for thousands of our neighbors—and in our virtual spaces, we bring people together. CAC hosts conversations that foster empathy and understanding, and works with many community groups to do social good.

EDUCATIONAL IMPACT: CAC’s Film Arts in Education Program supplements curriculum for thousands of public school students, providing local teachers with great experiences for their students to deepen and enhance their learning. CAC also offers workshops and lectures on film creation and history to people of all ages.

ECONOMIC IMPACT: Now that we are fully open, our economic impact can be quite significant. When fully open, CAC activities generate about $7,000,000 in spending in our local economy, annually.* We are an important local employer. We use local vendors whenever possible. There is no economic recovery without arts recovery.

With the majority of our memberships having been extended without fee due to our temporary closure, your annual gift is more important than ever.

Please give today and help to ensure we collect the full value of the Alpern Family Foundation's generous matching grant.
