Florida History Display Reveal and Oreodont Program

Come see the unveiling of our permanent display cases filled with Florida’s past, then stick around to excavate some very special Oreodont fossils with the SETS Foundation!

The Oreodont is a type of prehistoric mammal that made North America its home millions of years ago.
During this program, you’ll get the first look at our brand new, permanent display cases filled with fossils, shells, and even a bit of human history, and then work on cleaning up some Oreodont fossils to reveal a keepsake to take home with you.

All supplies are provided, registration is required for the fossil excavation but walk-ins are welcome for the unveiling of the display cases. Please register with our online calendar, in person, or by calling the Lakes Region branch at (352) 726-2357.
