Anna celebrates season at tree lighting

Anna street to be renamed
Anna city leaders hope to eliminate some driver confusion soon with the renaming of Throckmorton Boulevard. The road currently runs behind Walmart, but will eventually span a stretch from Taylor Boulevard in the south to the northern city limits. Read more

Anna skate park construction to begin this spring
Work is expected to begin on Anna’s new skate park at Slayter Creek Park by late March or early April. Read more

Free ice skating this weekend
Lace up your skates and glide onto the outdoor ice rink. We're hosting free ice skating at the Anna Municipal Complex on Dec. 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Skates are available as a part of the free event. On Saturday, George’s Coffee @ 121 will be selling coffee and hot chocolate from 3-8 p.m. and Turnpike Tap will be selling donuts from 5-8 p.m.

Wave hello to Santa as he visits your neighborhood
Operation Santa returns Dec. 12-14. Starting around 6 pm, Santa will visit as many residential areas as possible for approximately 20 minutes per neighborhood. If bad weather occurs, alternate dates will be announced. The schedule may also vary due to emergency responses.

For safety, we ask that parents not allow children to approach the motorcade. Santa will visit the neighborhoods in the order they are listed on the interactive mapVisit online for the schedule.

Elf on the Shelf Competition
Submit a photo of the most wacky, funny, or festive thing your scout elf has done this Holiday Season!

Christmas Tree Competition
All neighbors are invited to participate in the Christmas Tree decorating contest. Submit a photo of your most decked out tree for a chance at a prize.

Gingerbread House Competition

Adults and children alike are invited to show off their homemade gingerbread masterpieces. Bring in your gingerbread house on Monday, Dec. 12 to the Anna Municipal Complex lobby to enter our competition. There is a youth and adult category. Submissions will be on display until Dec. 22. 

Anna Rivals: Santa’s Sleuths
Do you have what it takes to come up on top? Compete against your peers in this free City-wide competition hosted through the Eventzee App. There is a challenge for everyone to enjoy. 

Holiday Lights Display Competition
All neighbors are invited to participate in the outdoor Christmas lights decorating contest. Submit a photo of your decked out house and/or yard for a chance at a prize.

Share your favorite recipe with neighbors
Celebrate the holidays with food and family! Submit your favorite holiday food recipe to be published in our city of anna digital holiday cookbook. This special holiday cookbook will feature all our neighbors' most precious recipes and traditions for us all to enjoy! From appetizers, to entrees, to desserts, we are hungry for it all!  We hope you will find inspiration and community within its pages.
