Volunteer of the Year
On Tuesday, Feb. 14, staff and City Council recognized Elijah Nelms as the Volunteer of the Year. Elijah completed 32.8 hours of service in 2022 and has already begun logging hours for 2023. He is a member of Keep Anna Beautiful Committee, the Diversity and Inclusion Commission and an Adopt-a-Block leader.

Anna Mogul 201 home for good
On Saturday, we celebrated the ribbon cutting for the Anna Mogul 201 Steam Locomotive arriving at Sherley Heritage Park. The Anna Mogul 201, in 1929, was in service on a short-line railroad in the Piney Woods of Texas that made interchange service with the Houston & Texas Central Railroad (the very same railroad that came through Anna!).

Back in 2017, as the City discussed restoring and moving the Anna Depot to Sherley Heritage Park, we also sought a suitable steam locomotive to display “arriving” at the Depot. Mogul 201, having a significant Texas heritage, was available, and in the spring of 2020, efforts began to bring the train home to Anna.

We're thrilled to have the train home permanently. Learn more about the train by visiting the Train Depot during museum hours.
