City of Chandler News - Upcoming Deadlines for Chandler’s Primary Election

On Tuesday, Aug. 2, Chandler residents who are registered voters will have the opportunity to elect a Mayor, three City Councilmembers and consider Proposition 470 (Home Rule Option) during the Primary Election.

Chandler residents who have an Arizona driver license or ID card may register to vote or update their existing registration at servicearizona.com/VoterRegistration. Residents also may access the registration website through Maricopa County Elections at elections.maricopa.gov/voter-registration/register-to-vote. The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming Primary Election is 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, July 5.

Early voting begins on Wednesday, July 6. Chandler voters who have signed up to be on the Active Early Voting List will automatically be mailed a ballot beginning Wednesday, July 6

Voted ballots can be mailed back or dropped off at any voting location or ballot drop box. If you need a replacement ballot, call Maricopa County Elections at 602-506-1511 before 5 p.m. Friday, July 22. The last recommended day to mail your ballot back is Tuesday, July 26. Note that postmarks do not count. Voted ballots also can be dropped off at voting center locations or ballot drop boxes until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Chandler City Hall will serve as a voting center location starting Friday, July 22 – Monday, Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. Voted ballots also can be dropped of at Chandler City Hall starting Wednesday, July 6 – Monday, Aug. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. On Election Day, Tuesday, Aug. 2, voters may vote in-person or drop off their ballot from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Chandler City Hall is located at 175 S. Arizona Ave. Find a complete list of voting center locations and ballot drop box hours and addresses at locations.maricopa.vote.

Independent voters (or voters not registered with a political party) can participate in the upcoming Chandler Primary Election. Chandler voters may select which ballot to receive: the Democratic race, the Republican race, or the City of Chandler issues only ballot. City measures will appear on the ballot for both political parties, so all Chandler voters may vote on City issues and City Council candidates. Independent voters may call Maricopa County Elections at 602-506-1511 for information on how to request a ballot.
