CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department is accepting registration for its new Summer 2022 Youth Cross-Country Running Camp for boys and girls ages 10 to 17.

Gabe Lucido, a USATF Certified Coach with VFit, and JJ Garza with South Texas Roller Running Club will provide training for this camp. The regimen will incorporate tools and practices for novices and for experienced athletes seeking to improve their overall running performances. The training will focus on techniques, preparation, injury prevention, goal setting, motivation, sports psychology, strategy, and more.

Runners will explore trails within the Corpus Christi Parks system. Workouts will be experience-based and age-appropriate and provide short-distance and long-distance training to improve fitness, speed, and endurance while having fun. Runners are encouraged to bring a towel for ground exercises and a water bottle to stay hydrated daily. 

The six-week camp will be offered from June 16 to July 23 as follows:

-Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Salinas Park

-Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at West Guth Park
