Council Approves $17.9 Million for CCIA Terminal Rehabilitation Project

Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA) will soon begin a Terminal Rehabilitation Project. At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and Council awarded a construction contract to SpawGlass Contractors, Inc., of Corpus Christi, for $17,941,349.

The project will update many customer-facing areas and add new airport additions, making flying out of Corpus Christi an even more pleasurable experience.

The rehabilitation project includes renovations to the first and second-floor public and secured restrooms of the Terminal Building. Also included are a new nursing room, a Service Animal Relief Area for individuals with service animals, and a second-floor outdoor patio with a view of the airfield.

In addition, CCIA will re-cover external roof sections and replace existing window perimeter seals and HVAC cooling towers. Also, the fire alarm control panel that serves the entire terminal building will be replaced, and improvements to the electrical generator and switch gear to back up emergency power to the west portion of the building will be made.

The anticipated construction completion for the Terminal Rehabilitation Project is in the Summer of 2024.

“This project continues our City Council commitment to building our airport to bolster our economy,” Mayor Guajardo said. ”Our airport fuels our economic growth and this project is part of our major push for airport improvements and expansion.”

CCIA will update the public on construction, ribbon-cutting dates, and tour opportunities through our social media accounts @flyccia on Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter, and Corpus Christi International Airport on LinkedIn.
