Council Authorizes Lease Agreement for City’s First Cricket Field at Westside Sports Complex
Coastal Bend Cricket Club To Utilize Sports Venue

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the City Council approved an ordinance authorizing a five-year lease agreement with Coastal Bend Cricket Club. The agreement will allow the Cricket Club the utilization of a cricket field. The City of Corpus Christi will install the cricket field at the Greenwood Sports Complex, located at 4033 Greenwood Drive.

A stated objective of the 10-Year Parks, Recreation & Open Space Master Plan is to expand

recreational facility offerings/access to park amenities to meet the interests of City residents.

This first cricket field will expand recreational offerings to a new population segment and will further help promote healthy lifestyles and physical activity.

Expanding recreational facility offerings will encourage sports tourism by allowing cricket teams to travel from areas such as Houston, Austin, and San Antonio to participate in tournaments, providing increased revenue for hotels and restaurants.

The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to providing quality, affordable enrichment programs for all ages and interests.
